How to Remove Ink from Microsuede.

Naturally, with three boys, I get plenty of practice with stain removal! The latest stain I had the pleasure of dealing with was blue ink on our tan, microsuede sofa. Our sofa is four years old. I’m glad that we chose it since it is pretty easy for me to get stains out of!

This was another Zane art project. He is always proud of his handiwork when complete and happily brags to anyone who will listen. I can’t tell you how it thrills me! 🙂 Despite my best efforts to keep all pens, pencils and art supplies away from him, he’s very quick and can be really quiet, making it difficult to catch him sometimes! So, without further ado, here’s how to remove ink from microsuede!

What You’ll Need

  • rubbing alcohol
  • junk rag

You can either use a spray bottle with the rubbing alcohol or pour directly onto the rag. Since this stain was a fairly small, I went ahead and poured the rubbing alcohol right on the rag. There have been other times {yes, this has happened to us more than once! 🙂 } where I used a spray bottle to spritz the area.

Now, use some elbow grease and scrub, scrub, scrub! The picture above is mid-cleaning. Alcohol evaporates very quickly, so even if your fabric looks dark and soaking wet, it will air dry super fast. Continue scrubbing the area until all the ink is removed. For this small patch, it took me less than five minutes of scrubbing. The rag I used was clean, but old. After you’re done, you’ll see the ink on the rag, so make sure you use a rag that you don’t mind ruining with ink!

Voila! Clean! This is about five minutes after I finished scrubbing. It was already totally dry! The alcohol does have a sharp smell while you’re cleaning, but in my experience, it fades quickly as soon as it’s dry! I hope this helps you as much as it has helped me!
