Handprint Canvas

For Mother’s Day this year, I wanted to do something special and different. So we did this {if I may say} beautiful hand print and foot print canvas artwork! I love that it captures the boys hands and feet for this age! The boys also thought it was AWESOME that they got to use paint. Well, Jorryn and Zane did at least.. I can’t speak for Shay! 🙂

I picked up these plain, white canvases on sale at Michael’s. Then, I picked out paints and paintbrushes. The little bottles of paint at Michael’s are fairly inexpensive. Even cheaper when you wait for them to be on sale! 🙂

I only managed to get pictures of Jorryn’s hand in the paint since it was too difficult to snap pictures while painting with the Littles. I used a big paint brush to make sure that I got the paint on evenly. Once they were coated, I gently and evenly pressed them down on the canvas. I warned Jorryn and Zane to not wiggle their fingers. Shay unfortunately wiggled his toes and smooshed the paint around a little.

Once they had their hand prints {and foot prints in Shay’s case}, I used the green and yellow paint to make it look like flowers and add the sunshine with Jorryn’s help.

I made three canvases. I gave one to my mom and one to my grandma and kept one for myself. They were a big hit with my mom and grandma! The boys have also enjoyed admiring their handiwork now that it’s all complete.

This would make a great project for any occasion! Just make sure to make an extra one for yourself to keep! 🙂

That is so cool! I want to try this with my little nephews and nieces as a gift to my brother and sis-in-law!
